Default VA issues Reclast drug monograph and criteria

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) issued a drug monograph and "criteria for use" for zoledronic acid (Reclast). For patients with osteoporosis and no history of prior fractures, Reclast is positioned in cases of history or risk of upper GI bleed due to intolerance of oral bisphosphonates. Diagnosis criteria, calcium intake and vitamin D use are also included in the criteria.
