FDA is not currently reporting a drug shortage for piroxicam. According to
Drugs@FDA, the following are registered manufacturers: Mutual (10mg), Nostrum (10 and 20mg), Mylan, Teva and Watson. However, in late March 2010,
ASHP reported a drug shortage, indicating that Mylan (and UDL)’s product has been discontinued since 2009. URL (Mutual)’s products have been d/c since 2000. It appears that
Watson’s generic is not available as of April 2010. Teva’s generics are backordered until late April 2010. With regards to Nostrum, they have the 20mg available (in 100 count). The 10mg (100 count) has an estimated release date in early April 2010.
