Default FDB generic/brand codes

Why are generic products sometimes reclassified by FirstDataBank as branded products (i.e. codes (1) vs (2))?

Generic status can change based on the availability and pricing of the drug. When the generic drug price is close to the brand, the status of that drug can change to a brand drug. In addition, when there are limited suppliers of the generic, this can also impact the generic status of the drug.

Why would branded products sometimes be reclassified by FirstDataBank as generic products? For example, this has happened with several branded oral contraceptives (ie, ortho-cyclen, ortho-tri-cyclen, etc...)
