Default up-to-date with generics

Anonymous member request:

"Thanks to you and other sources, we have great estimates on what to expect each year, as far as generic availability. My resident and I were pondering, however, on how we could keep up with new generics hitting the market in "real-time." We can't figure out a good source and I thought you might know."

Default Re: up-to-date with generics

There are a couple of things you can consider:

First - check out our forum for weekly updates on first-time generic approvals (we publish every Thursday if there are relevant approvals)

Second - FDA publishes a monthly list of first-time generics but keep in mind that they don't provide details on whether a product will be launched and if it's at-risk (also there is usually a lag of
1-3 weeks)

Lastly - you can check Drugs@FDA for their reports on approvals (click on Drug Approvals by Month and then select Original Abbreviated New Drug Approvals (ANDAs) by Month). It's only a day or so behind but the problem is that this site doesn't specifically say if it's a first-time generic.
