- Biography:
- Shobhna Butler brings over ten years of experience in the pharmacy field. Gaining experience while working in management positions in retail pharmacy management, PBMs, and pharmacy consulting fields, she now facilitates health plan pharmacy initiatives, member education programs and disease management programs resulting in substantial cost containment in various managed care organizations including the expanding biotech market.
In a recent consulting role, Shobhna utilized her clinical pharmacy and management experience to serve as an Interim Health Plan Pharmacy Director, in which some of her responsibilities included being a resource for clinical criteria, guidelines and disease management therapy review. This role also required her to provide assistance to the health plan with aspects of the Medicare Part D program, MTMP and Rebate Utilization. In addition, she has assisted health plans with PBM RFP’s, the implementation and coordination of recommendations for clinical strategies that were tailored to the health plan’s healthcare objectives in order to ensure the maximization of financial benefit while maintaining sound clinical quality outcomes. Finally, she has provided other consultative services to managed care plans, which include: pharmacy training services, formulary medication placement, benefit designs, providing industry and trend updates to P&T committees, medical directors and pharmacy directors.
Shobhna is also active in a number of professional organizations, some of which she has held multiple leadership positions. These include the Georgia Pharmacy Association, and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. In addition, she has served as a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor-Pharmacy Practice at Mercer University-College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; she also maintains a faculty appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. Finally, she is the recipient of the AMCP Grassroots Advocacy Award (2007), Cambridge Who’s Who in Healthcare Award, (2006/2007), and the Mercer University-Distinguished Young Alumni Award, (2005).
